Threads download not working? Here’s what to check

A failed download can have several causes: the link, the post’s availability, file limits or a temporary restriction. Start with the checks below before trying the download again.

Check that you copied a post link

Use a public threads.com or threads.net post or /share/ link. Open it in your browser to confirm it points to the intended post. Profile URLs and text-only posts do not contain files Madboy can download.

Check whether the post is still public

Private, deleted, restricted or otherwise unavailable posts cannot be downloaded. Threads may also temporarily block access from our server, even when the post opens on your device. Wait and try again; Madboy does not ask for your account credentials to bypass a restriction.

Refresh an expired result

Results and prepared files have a one-hour access lifetime and belong to the browser session that created them. If a result has expired, or you opened it in another browser, return to the home page and paste the original Threads link again.

Check the file limit or wait for preparation

Individual downloads and ZIP archives are limited to 128 MiB. Save / Share supports up to 50 MiB. If a ZIP is too large, download its files separately.

Up to two downloads can be prepared at once. Wait for one to finish before starting another. If you reach the request limit, pause before retrying instead of repeatedly clicking the button.

Understand playback and saving differences

A video preview starts muted. Use the player’s sound control if the original includes audio. A silent source stays silent. If your browser cannot preview the source format, try Download and open the saved file in a compatible player.

Playing a video is not the same as saving it. Use Download for a file, or prepare and then open Save / Share on a supported phone. Check your browser’s downloads list if the file does not appear in Photos.
